There are many types of scissor lifts, such as slab or RT (rough terrain) scissor lifts. They can range in height, size, and weight. Choosing the right scissor lift based on your needs is important as it will change these variables.
While scissor lift weight can depend on many different factors, we can give a range of weights for all types of scissor lifts. Scissor lifts can range from 525 lbs, like our earlier model HB-P527 (replaced by our PA-1030), to a whopping 77,000 lbs! While Hy-Brid Lifts doesn't sell anything nearly that heavy or tall, that would be a scissor lift you would use mainly for massive-scale projects where you would need a working height of over 100 feet!
Since most projects don't exceed the working height of 25 ft, the most common scissor lift on any job site is 19 ft.
Again, the weight of a 19 ft scissor lift will depend on some different factors. Including if it is a slab or RT scissor lift and if it's rated for indoor or outdoor use.
19 ft scissor lifts can weigh anywhere from 1,987 lbs to 3,800 lbs.
At the low end of 1,987 lbs is the Pro Series PS-1930 which is rated for both indoor and outdoor use. Lightweight 19 ft scissor lifts like the PS-1930 are ideal for job sites with sensitive floor loading pressures and are ideal when dealing with concrete, allowing access onto the concrete earlier than a heavier, bulkier, scissor lift. In addition to being lightweight, it is also compact to get through a standard doorway without folding rails and features high platform capacities.
There are many benefits to lightweight scissor lifts. That's why Hy-Brid Lifts' design approach focuses specifically on reducing our machines' physical weight and size. Because of this, our scissor lifts can be easily transported to the job site and within multi-story buildings.
Lightweight scissor lifts are able to access locations that would be inaccessible to traditional scissor lifts. Their lighter weight allows them to be placed on elevators and go through standard doors. Additionally, lightweight scissor lifts can be used on sensitive flooring, such as access/computer flooring, and are well-suited for working in mass timber buildings.

When comparing scissor lift weight vs height, there is a main factor to consider, the base of the scissor lift.
Generally, the taller the scissor lift is capable of going one or more things will have to happen, the scissor lift base will have to get wider, heavier, or the use of outriggers to widen the base and stabilize the lift. Obviously, the scissor lift could get heavier because of the use of more materials as the lift gets taller, but the majority will come from how the base is designed.
Another factor to consider is if the lift is used for indoor or outdoor applications. If a scissor lift is meant to be used outdoors, the base of the scissor lift will be heavier to give it a high wind rating, so that the lift can fully extend outside in somewhat windy conditions.
There are many different types of scissor lifts, each with its own unique set of benefits and drawbacks. The weight of a scissor lift is an important factor to consider when considering your needs but it is not the only factor. Lightweight scissor lifts, such as the Hy-Brid Lifts PS-1930, offer a number of advantages, including ease of transport, reduced floor loading pressures, and the ability to access concrete sooner. If you are looking for a scissor lift that is easy to use and maneuver, Hy-Brid Lifts has several great scissor lifts to consider.
